PARLIAMENTARY ACTIVITIES
At the parliamentary elections of 24 May 1981 he was elected Member of the House of Representatives standing as a Socialist Party EDEK candidate in Pafos and was re-elected at the parliamentary elections of 8 December 1985, 19 May 1991 and 26 May 1996 (until 1998, when he was appointed Minister of Defence). At the parliamentary elections of 27 May 2001 he was elected Member of the House standing as a candidate of the Social Democratic Movement (KISOS) in Pafos (on 19 February 2000 the Party changed its name).
At the parliamentary elections of 21 May 2006 he was elected Member of the House standing as a candidate of the Movement of Social Democrats EDEK in Nicosia (on 29 June 2003 KISOS changed its name) and was re-elected at the parliamentary elections of 22 May 2011.
On 2 June 2011 he was elected President of the House of Representatives for the Tenth Term of Office of the House (2011-2016).
He is ex officio chairman of the Committee of Selection and chairman of the Ad Hoc House Committee on Rules of Procedure and of the Special House Committee on Declaration and Examination of Financial Interests.
POLITICAL-SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
During his studies in Greece he was actively involved in the student union movement and the anti-junta struggle. He took part in the sit-in at the Law School and in the Polytechnic School uprising.
He resisted the coup of 15 July 1974 as editor and broadcaster at the Pafos Free Radio Station. As a result, he was arrested and imprisoned by the coupists.
He was secretary general and first vice-president of the Movement.
In 1998 he was appointed Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus in the Glafkos Clerides? government, but resigned on 4 February 1999, following his disagreement with the government decision to cancel the stationing of the S 300 Russian missile system in Cyprus.
On 22 July 2001 he was elected president of the Movement.
He is a member of the National Council, the supreme advisory body to the
President of the Republic on the Cyprus problem.

Né le 12 août 1945 à Lyon, dans le Rhône, Bernard Accoyer, est médecin oto-rhino-laryngologiste, docteur de la faculté de médecine de Lyon. Il entre en politique en 1989 par son élection à la mairie d’Annecy-le-Vieux où, depuis lors, il est réélu sans interruption. En 2008 il est élu au premier tour pour l’exercice d’un quatrième mandat.
En mars 1993, il est élu député de la première circonscription de la Haute-Savoie. Il est réélu en 1997, en 2002 ainsi qu’en 2007.
Il est membre de la commission des affaires culturelles, familiales et sociales de l’Assemblée nationale, et ses travaux assidus y sont notamment consacrés aux problèmes sociaux et médicaux. Il est ainsi le rapporteur du projet de loi portant réforme des retraites sous la XIIe législature après une opposition opiniâtre, sous la législature précédente, à la mise en place des 35 heures, tout particulièrement dans le cadre du système hospitalier.
Il préside le groupe UMP de 2004 à 2007, succédant à Jacques Barrot, après avoir été premier vice-président du groupe de 2002 à 2004.
En devenant, sous la XIIIe législature, Président de l’Assemblée nationale, le 26 juin 2007, il confie : « Je pense à ma famille, à mes proches, à tous ceux dont j’ai croisé la route, en Rhône-Alpes, ma région, en Haute-Savoie, mon département d’adoption. Je les ai rencontrés en vivant mes passions : mon métier, la médecine, la vie publique, la politique ». Il déclare s’assigner pour objectif principal de « donner à notre assemblée un plus grand rôle dans le fonctionnement de l'État, une meilleure capacité de contrôle et d'évaluation, davantage de transparence et d'efficacité, pour une démocratie irréprochable »
Marié et père de trois enfants, passionné de ski et de cyclisme, Bernard Accoyer est membre de l’Académie nationale de chirurgie.
Jean-Pierre BEL est né le 30 décembre 1951 à Lavaur dans le Tarn.
Issu d’une famille marquée par les idéaux de la Résistance et par un engagement
politique dans la lignée de Jean Jaurès, il est élevé à Toulouse, cité
Empalot-Daste.
Il a suivi des études de droit à l’Université de Toulouse.
Il est marié et père de trois enfants.
Mandats électifs locaux
Il est élu maire de Mijanes, commune de montagne dans l’Ariège, en 1983, et conseiller régional de Midi-Pyrénées de 1992 à 1998. Conseiller général du canton de Lavelanet de 1998 à 2001, il est maire de cette commune de 2001 à 2008.

Sénateur de l’Ariège depuis 1998, Jean-Pierre BEL est membre du Bureau du Sénat en 2001. Il est élu Président du Groupe socialiste en 2004, 2008 et 2011.
Jean-Pierre BEL a en outre été membre de la direction nationale du Parti socialiste de 1994 à 2000.

Dal 1966 è membro della CDU.
Dal 1975 al 1980 è membro del Consiglio comunale della città di Bochum.
Dal 1977 al 1985 è vicepresidente della CDU nella circoscrizione di Bochum.
Dal 1978 al 1984 è vicepresidente regionale dell’Associazione giovanile della CDU, Junge Union, di Vestfalia-Lippe.
Dal 1980 è membro del Budestag.
Dal 1983 al 1989 è vicepresidente della Commissione per il controllo delle elezioni, immunità ed il regolamento interno del Budestag.
Dal 1986 è membro della Presidenza della CDU nel Land Nordreno-Vestfalia e Presidente della CDU nella circoscrizione della Ruhr.
Dal 1989 al 1994 è sottosegretario parlamentare presso il Ministero federale per l’istruzione e la scienza.
Dal 1995 al 1998 è coordinatore del Governo federale per l’aeronautica e la navigazione spaziale.
Dal 1996 è Presidente del gruppo regionale della CDU del Land Nordreno-Vestafia.
Dal 1998 al 2002 è portavoce del gruppo parlamentare CDU-CSU per la politica cultura e di media.
Dal 2002 al 2005 è vicepresidente del Bundestag.
Dall’ottobre 2005 è Presidente del Budestag.
Il Presidente Lammert è coniugato e padre di quattro figli.

Michael Frendo was appointed Speaker of the House of Representatives on the 29 April 2010. He has been a Member of the House of Representatives of Malta since 1987 and served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2004 to 2008. As Foreign Minister he is one of the signatures to the Treaty of Lisbon. Dr Frendo has held various ministerial offices in past Governments including as Minister for Transport, Communications and Technology (1994-1996) with responsibility for civil aviation, airports, ports, arterial road construction, science and technology, land transport, shipping, telecommunications and information technology; Minister for Youth and Arts (1992-1994), with responsibility for the Broadcasting, the Arts, Theatre, Sport and Youth; and Parliamentary Secretary (Minister of State) for Youth, Culture and Consumer Protection (1990-1992). In 1995 Michael Frendo served as President of Eurocontrol.
Born on the 29th July 1955, Michael Frendo graduated in Law from the University of Malta in 1977 (LL.D). In 1978/79 he specialised in European Community Law (LL.M) at the Centre for European Legal Studies, University of Exeter, United Kingdom.
In 2002/2003 Michael Frendo represented the Maltese National Parliament as a member of the European Convention (Convention on the Future of Europe) which formulated the text of the new Treaty on a Constitution for Europe under the chairmanship of former President of France Valery Giscard d'Estaing. Early in 2003, Michael Frendo was the first Maltese to address the European Parliament in the Maltese language. Between June 2008 and April 2010, Michael Frendo served as Chairman of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Foreign and European Affairs having been a member of that Committee from 1999-2003 and having previously chaired this Committee from April 2003 to July 2004.
In the period 2003/2004 Michael Frendo was also concurrently an Observer Member of the European Parliament. Michael Frendo has also served as First Vice-President of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) between the Maltese Parliament and the European Parliament and as Chairman of the Maltese Parliamentary Delegation to the European Parliament. He was a Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe between 1987 and 1992.
Dr Frendo has also been actively involved in the Partit Nazzjonalista (Nationalist Movement). He was the Founder/Director of the Partit Nazzjonalista United Kingdom Office in London between 1980 and 1982, and later served as the PN's Director, Press & Media, and Editorial Director at its daily and two weekly newspapers in the period 1982 and 1985.
Michael Frendo is a part time Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Malta and has lectured in EU Law, Telecommunications Law and Private International Law. He was Managing Partner of Gatt Frendo Tufigno Advocates between 1997 and 2003. He has published widely including several books on European affairs: "The Future is Europe" (2003), "Europe,The Case for Membership" (1996), "Malta in the Council of Europe" (1990), "Malta in the European Community - Commercial and Legal Considerations" (1989). He has also published extensively about legal issues relating to Information and Communications Technologies. Michael Frendo is married to Irene nee´ Brincat. They have three children - Luke (24), Sara (21) and Julia (12).

Ewa Kopacz nasce a Skaryszew il 3 dicembre 1956.
E’ cresciuta a Radom, dove si è diplomata. Nel 1981 si è laureata presso l’Accademia Medica di Lublino in medicina e pediatria. Ha esercitato la sua professione a Szydlowiec dove fino al 2001 è stata Capo della locale struttura sanitaria. E’ stata inoltre Ministro della Sanità dal novembre 2007. Ewa Kopacz è membro della Piattaforma Civica dal 2001.
Ella è stata eletta deputato del Sejm nel 2001 ed è stata successivamente rieletta deputato nel 2005, 2007 e 2011. Nel novembre 2011 è stata eletta Presidente del Sejm ed è l’unica donna ad aver ricoperto questa carica.
Nel 2009 la Presidente Kopacz ha acquisito grande visibilità internazionale a causa di un suo intervento nei confronti di diverse aziende farmaceutiche alle quali ha chiesto quali fossero i vantaggi dei vaccini contro l’influenza suina e che si assumessero ogni responsabilità relativamente ai loro effetti collaterali.
Ha richiesto al Governo polacco di indagare sulla corretta sperimentazione del vaccino basandosi sul dato che l’influenza stagionale supera di gran lunga la pandemia dell’influenza suina.
Gli attivisti per la vita hanno chiesto per lei una scomunica dopo che la Dottoressa Kopacz si era attivata per aiutare una ragazza di 14 anni ad abortire.

Born 11th January 1949 in Lidzbark Warmiński, where his parents had moved from Vilnius.
A democratic opposition activist. In May 1968, as a student at the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Gdynia, was arrested on charges of printing and distributing fliers in support of student protests.
In 1975, graduated in history from the Faculty of Humanities at Lublin Catholic University. During the 1970s was a co-organizer of democratic opposition in Lublin and along the Baltic Coast. In 1976, participated in the campaign to assist protesting workers in Radom and became a member of Workers' Defence Committee. In 1977-1978, was a co-organizer of the Free Trade Unions of the Baltic Coast. Was a co-editor of Robotnik and Robotnik Wybrzeża opposition newspapers.
Principal organizer of the August 1980 strike in Gdańsk Shipyards and co-author of the list of striking workers' demands. After the imposition of martial law, headed the second strike at Gdańsk Shipyards in December 1981. Spent more than four years in hiding from the authorities and working for the outlawed Solidarity Trade Union. Between 1984 and 1986 - member of the Provisional Solidarity Coordination Committee and then Provisional Solidarity Trade Union Council. Arrested in January 1986. Participated in strikes held at Gdańsk Shipyards in May and August 1988. Since 1989 - member of the Presidium of the Solidarity Trade Union National Committee, and, in 1990-1991, its Deputy Chairman.
Between 1991 and 2001 - Deputy to the Sejm, first representing the Solidarity Trade Union then, since 1993, the Democratic Union (later the Freedom Union). In the First Term Sejm presided the Solidarity Trade Union Parliamentary Club and was deputy chairman of a special committee investigating the consequences of martial law.
In Second Term Sejm - deputy chairman and then chairman of the Special Services Committee; deputy chairman of a special committee investigating the legality of actions taken by State organs with respect to a motion submitted on 19th December 1995 by the Minister of Internal Affairs to the Chief Military Prosecutor's Office to initiate a preparatory proceeding in the matter of a crime committed against State security and the realization of that motion. During his three terms in office at the Sejm, was a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, National and Ethnic Minorities Committee, Constitutional Committee of the National Assembly, special committee examining constitutional provisions of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and provisions introducing the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Administration and Internal Affairs Committee, Constitutional Responsibility Committee, and Special Committee on the Labour Code.
Between 1997 and 2000 - Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration (in charge of the police force). Between 2001 and 2005 - Deputy Marshal and Member of the Board of Management of Pomorze Province.

Frances D'Souza became the second Lord Speaker elected by Members of the House of Lords in July 2011 and took office on 1 September. She succeeds Baroness Hayman, who was the first elected Speaker of the House of Lords.
Baroness D'Souza presided over business in the Lords chamber for the first time on 5 September 2011.
In addition to overseeing business in the chamber, Baroness D'Souza's responsibilities as Lord Speaker include chairing the House Committee (the principal supervisory body for the House of Lords administration), representing the Lords on ceremonial occasions and acting as an ambassador for the House – explaining the work and role of the House of Lords to audiences both at home and abroad.
Before taking up the post of Lord Speaker, Baroness D'Souza held the post of Convenor of the Crossbench Peers.
Early career and background
Baroness D'Souza's background and interests include human rights and development issues. A consultant to the REDRESS Trust and trustee of a range of organisations concerned with human rights and development, Baroness D'Souza has, in the past, lived and worked in southern Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.
For more than nine years she was executive director of ARTICLE 19, a human rights organisation devoted to promoting freedom of expression. She was also the director of an independent research group focusing on applying systematic evaluation methods to development and emergency aid and collaborated in original research on the economic origins and alleviation of famine.
Baroness D'Souza was an independent research consultant for the UN from 1985 to 1988. She also worked for the Nuffield Institute of Comparative Medicine (1973-77) and Oxford Polytechnic, now Oxford Brookes University (1977-80).
Her academic background is in anthropology; she taught at both the London School of Economics and Oxford Brookes University. Educated at St Mary's School, Princethorpe Baroness D’Souza studied Anthropology at University College London, graduating in 1970, and undertook further study at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.) in 1976.

Nato a České Budějovice il 13 novembre 1953. Fino a ventuno anni e’ vissuto a Horní Slověnice, vicino Třeboň in una famiglia di origine contadina. Sposato nel 1974 ha due figli, entrambi laureati in economia.
Dopo avere completato l’apprendistato come meccanico e conseguito il diploma di scuola secondaria tecnica, ha lavorato presso la Škoda České Budějovice come meccanico e commesso, mantenendo l’incarico di rappresentante sindacale.
Nel 1990 e’ stato eletto nel comitato direttivo del Sindacato KOVO, ove ha altresi’ ricoperto la carica di direttore del Dipartimento di Metodologia per la regione della Boemia Meridionale, divenendo poi Vice Presidente del Sindacato.
Dal 1994 ha lavorato presso la Confederazione dei Sindacati di Boemia e Moravia, prima come Vice Presidente (1994 – 2001) e poi come Presidente (2001 – 2010). Ha preso parte (in qualita’ di Vice Presidente) al Consiglio per gli Accordi Economici e Sociali.
Nel 1996 e’ stato eletto Senatore (partito socialdemocratico) per la circoscrizione di Pelhřimov-Jindřichův Hradec, carica che ha conservato anche alle elezioni del 2002 e del 2008. On December 19th, 2008, Roberta Anastase was elected Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies. She is the first woman to hold the office in the history of Romania. Prior to being elected, Ms. Anastase was a Member of Parliament, representing her home county of Prahova in the Chamber of Deputies. From 2005 to 2008, she was an observer, and then a Member of the European Parliament, affiliated with the European People’s Party – European Democrats Group. In November of 2008, under a new voting system, she was reelected as the first representative of the 11th electoral district of Prahova (Ploiesti-Vest) to the Chamber of Deputies.
Ms. Anastase was born in Ploieşti on March 27th, 1976. A sociologist by training, she pursued post-graduate studies in Political Science and European Studies.
Her political activity dates back to 1991 when, at the age of 15, she became a member of the Democratic Party (currently the Democratic – Liberal Party). Since then, she served in turn as Vice-President of the Youth Organization, member of the National Political Bureau and Head of the Prahova Branch. She is currently the Executive Secretary for international relations of the Democratic-Liberal Party.
Throughout her time as an MP and an MEP, Ms. Anastase has supported justice reform, women's rights and equal opportunities. She was also European Parliament Rapporteur for the Black Sea Synergy and maintains a keen interest in foreign and regional affairs.

Nato il 26 luglio 1956 a Petrileni, provincia di Bihor, è sposato con due figli. Parla francese.
Consegue la laurea in ingegneria presso il Politecnico “Traian Vuia” di Timisoara (1981) e, successivamente, frequenta inoltre corsi sia di specializzazione nel settore doganale a Vienna (Austria) e Weiden (Germania)(1994 – 1995), sia del Collegio Nazionale di Difesa (1999).
Nel 1981 inizia lavorare come ingegnere presso la Societa’ “Hiperion” di Stei, provincia di Bihor, nel cui ambito ricopre inoltre la carica di Direttore (1990).
A seguito delle elezioni del 1990 diviene deputato del Fronte della Salvezza Nazionale e svolge tale attività fino al 1991, quando, viene nominato Prefetto di Bihor (fino al 1993).
Nel periodo 1993 – 1996 è a capo della Direzione Regionale di Dogane Oradea.
L’anno 1991 ha altresì un rilevante significato politico poiché diviene uno dei membri fondatori del Partito Democratico, nel cui ambito, grazie all’assidua e costante attività profusa, si evidenzia come una delle personalità di spicco, ricoprendo con successo le seguenti funzioni: Presidente dell’Organizzazione Distrettuale di Bihor (1991 – 1997), Segretario Generale (1997-2000, 2005-2008), nonchè Vicepresidente (2000-2004).
Viene eletto due volte senatore del PD (1996 e 2004) ed e’ esperto parlamentare nel periodo 2000 – 2004.
Ricopre inoltre due volte l’incarico di Ministro dell’Interno: 29 dicembre 2004 – 5 aprile 2007 (Governo Tariceanu) e 23 dicembre 2009 - 27 settembre 2010 (Governo Boc).
Nel 2008 diviene senatore del Partito Democratico Liberale – di cui è’ attualmente Segretario Generale – ed espleta tale funzione fino il 28 novembre 2011 quando subentra Mircea Geoana alla carica di Presidente del Senato, a seguito della revoca di quest’ultimo.

Altre attività: è stato membro della Commissione elettorale nazionale, membro del Consiglio nazionale dei funzionari della pubblica amministrazione, rappresentante sloveno nell’OECD Public Governance (agosto 2004) e membro del coordinamento europeo dei direttori generali per la pubblica amministrazione (dal giugno 2000 all’agosto 2004).
Nel dicembre 2004 è stato eletto Presidente dell’Assemblea per la Repubblica (Think-Tank di centro-destra, ndt), ricoprendo tale incarico fino al marzo 2011.
Il 21 ottobre 20011 è diventato Presidente della Lista Gregor Virant (partito politico da lui fondato, ndt).
Nel corso della prima seduta della sesta legislatura dell’Assemblea nazionale slovena (21 dicembre 2011) è stato eletto, con voto segreto, con 52 voti. nono Presidente dell’Assemblea nazionale.

Born: 3 October 1951, in Ljubljana.
He completed primary and grammar school in Ljubljana where he also graduated from the Faculty of Economics. Afterwards, he received a master's degree in business sciences from the Faculty of Business and Economics in Maribor. He is married, has two daughters and three grandchildren. Together with his family, he lives in a house in Forme at Škofja Loka. He has held the office of the municipal councillor in Škofja Loka for the fourth time. He was elected a National Council member on 21 November 2007 by the electoral constituency of Gorenjska (area of Kranj) and the President of the National Council on 12 December 2007 at the constituent session of the National Council.
Since the fall of 2005: After the expiry of his term of office of a deputy to the National Assembly, he was employed by the Lokainženiring company as a director for development, mainly engaged in the acquisition of complex investment engineering businesses in Slovenia and abroad. On a contractual basis, he cooperated with the Mercury International company as an international consultant in the field of executive staff professional development and the development of company's sales function.
Fall 2000 - fall 2005: In Škofja Loka in October 2000, he was elected a deputy to the National Assembly. Pursuant to legal provisions, he terminated his business activities and handed them over to the representatives. In the National Assembly, he covered economic-related issues. He was the vice-president of the parliamentary committee for the economy and the coordinator for the area of economy and finance in the deputy group of the Liberal Democratic Party, member of parliamentary committees for financial policy and monetary system, agriculture and the member of the Slovenian part of the Parliamentary Association Committee. He maintained links with local community of Škofja Loka through his deputy office in Škofja Loka and as a councillor in the Škofja Loka Municipal Council.
January 1998 - October 2000:In this period, he was an independent business consultant and an entrepreneur engaged mainly in project development and financing. His cooperation with Mercury International continued, namely in projects developing business performance (Telekom Slovenija, Luka Koper, NLB, Iskratel etc.).
Fall 1994 - January 1998: Acting as an entrepreneur, he was the permanent associate of the Slovenian Branch of Mercuri International Consultancy. In terms of quality and quantity of completed consultancy projects, he found it a considerable challenge to meet international standards and achieve sales goals. In this period, he developed relationships of Mercuri International with some key buyers, partners.
April 1989 - fall 1994:He was the Director General of Združeno podjetje Iskra Telekom, subsequently transformed into Iskra Telekom Holding d.d. The main goal of the executive team was to restructure and develop a group of companies formed on the basis of former Iskra Telematika. Between the years 1989 and 1993, he was also the Chairman of Iskratel Management Board (Telekom Holding and Siemens joint venture) and the chairman or member of a number of management boards of Iskra Telekom Group Companies in Slovenia, Germany and Turkey.
Fall 1984 - April 1989: He held a position of the commercial director and the member of rehabilitation team in Iskra Telematika. This organization was the largest telecommunication sector of Iskra which at the beginning of eighties encountered a deep programme and financial crisis. In this period, the organization managed to sign some major contracts for the supply of telecommunication equipment to the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and Turkey. He was also the member of core negotiation team for setting up joint venture with Siemens.
Fall 1977 - fall 1984:In Iskra Commerce foreign trade company, he was employed as a commercial director for Asia and Far East. Later, at the request of Iskra executive team, he joined the rehabilitation team in Iskra Telematika Kranj. He succeeded in forming an excellent team which achieved significant business results (telecommunication and railway signalling system in Turkey, technological businesses for auto electrical products in Iran, export of electronic elements to Pakistan and Hong Kong).

Pío García-Escudero nació en Madrid el 28 de octubre de 1952.
Arquitecto por vocación, obtuvo su título en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de la capital de España.
En el ejercicio de su profesión fue, entre otros trabajos, arquitecto de la Dirección General de Bellas Artes del Ministerio de Cultura. En 1987 es nombrado director general de Patrimonio y Promoción Cultural en la Junta de Castilla y León, donde permanece hasta 1990, pasando a desempeñar después el puesto de director de Rehabilitación del Casco Antiguo del Ayuntamiento de Madrid hasta 1993. Una década después regresará al consistorio de su ciudad natal, esta vez como concejal de gobierno de Urbanismo, Obras e Infraestructuras, y segundo teniente de alcalde.
Su labor en la restauración de monumentos arquitectónicos ha sido reconocida con varios premios, como el Europa Nostra en los años 1985, 1988 y 1996, por las obras de restauración llevadas a cabo, respectivamente, en el Palacio de Monterrey de Salamanca, el Convento de Santa Clara de la misma ciudad y la Capilla del Condestable de la Catedral de Burgos.
Junto a su dedicación a la arquitectura, Pío García-Escudero lleva más de dos décadas consagrado a la actividad política, tiempo durante el cual ha desempeñado distintos puestos de responsabilidad en su formación, el Partido Popular: presidente del PP de Madrid entre 1993 y 2004, coordinador de Organización Electoral entre 1999 y 2003, presidente de las Comisiones Organizadoras del XIII y XIV Congreso Nacional del PP en 1998 y 2001, respectivamente, o coordinador de campaña de varias elecciones generales, municipales y autonómicas, y europeas.
Durante estos años, el Parlamento ha sido el hilo conductor de su trayectoria política, por una parte como diputado de la Asamblea de Madrid durante tres legislaturas, entre 1991 y 2003, y por otra como senador: primero, designado por la Comunidad de Madrid entre los años 1995 y 2003, y después, electo por Madrid desde 2004 hasta la actualidad. Dentro de la Cámara Alta ha ejercido la labor de portavoz del Grupo Parlamentario Popular durante tres legislaturas, en una primera etapa entre 1996 y 1999, y en una segunda entre 2004 y 2011, año en que resultó elegido presidente del Senado.

Per Westerberg was elected as Speaker of the Riksdag after the parliamentary elections in 2006. He has been a member of the Riksdag for the Moderate Party since 1979.
In 1991-94 under the non-socialist government he was Minister for Industry, Employment and Communications.
In the Riksdag he has been chair of the Committee on Industry and Trade and of the Committee on Environment and Agriculture and deputy chair of the Committee on Transport and Communications. He has also been a member of the Committee on EU Affairs for several years.
Per Westerberg is a graduate economist. He is married to Ylwa and has four children. His main leisure interests include his boat and being in the archipelago, travel, motorbikes and historical literature.

He was born in Pápa on 29 December 1959. He is married and has three children. His wife is a secondary school teacher of ethnography and history. He finished Türr István Secondary School in Pápa in 1978. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest in 1986. He worked as an assistant researcher at the Youth Research Unit of the Social Science Institute of the Central Committee of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party (MSZMP) in 1986. He was one of the founders of the Special Course in Social Science for Law Students in 1983, where he first taught as a senior student, then as an educator from 1984 to 1988. He was the founder and editor of a magazine on social theory entitled Századvég from 1984 to 1990. He was awarded the scholarship of the Hungarian Academy of Science - Soros Foundation from 1987 to 1988. He has been a member of the presidium of the Hungarian Association for Civic Cooperation since 1996. He was a member of the presidium of the Hungarian Association of Child Rescue International in 1990 and he has been presiding over it since 1994. He was one of the founders of FIDESZ on 30 March 1988. He took part in the Opposition Round Table discussions and the tripartite political negotiations in the summer of 1989. He was elected member of the National Board of the party in October 1988. Later, he was elected vice-president - therefore, he became a member of the presidium - in 1993. He was executive vice-president from 1997 to 1999 and since May 2001. He presided over the party from 30 January 2000 to 5 May 2001. He was head of the National Board in the summer of 2002 and was re-elected on 28 June 2003. As president of the board, he is a member of the five-member presidium of the party. He has been Member of Parliament since 1990 (1990: Constituency 3, Veszprém, Pápa; 1994: national list; 1998: Veszprém County list). He was a parliamentary faction leader from 28 June to 31 July 1994. He was Minister without Portfolio in charge of Civil National Security Services from 8 July 1998 to 3 May 2000. Martin Schulz è nato il
20 dicembre 1955 ed è cresciuto a Hehlrath in Germania, località vicina alla
frontiera tra Germania, Paesi Bassi e Belgio. Dopo gli studi superiori ha
deciso di tentare di fare della sua passione per i libri una professione e ha
iniziato un apprendistato di libraio. Nel 1982 ha aperto la propria libreria a Würselen, che è rimasta in proficua attività per dodici anni.
A 19 anni di età ha aderito al Partito socialdemocratico della Germania e ha
iniziato la propria carriera politica. A 31 anni di età è stato eletto il più
giovane sindaco della Renania Settentrionale - Vestfalia, rimanendo in carica
11 anni.
Martin Schulz è deputato al Parlamento europeo dal 1994 ed è stato membro di
diverse commissioni, operando all'inizio nella sottocommissione per i diritti
dell'uomo e successivamente nella commissione per le libertà civili e gli
affari interni. Dal 2000 è presidente dal gruppo della SPD e successivamente è
stato eletto vicepresidente dei deputati socialisti al PE.
Nel 2004 è stato eletto presidente del secondo gruppo maggiore nel Parlamento
europeo. Come dirigente dei socialisti e democratici al Parlamento europeo
Martin Schulz si è prodigato per obiettivi come la giustizia sociale, la

Trajko VELJANOSKI
Trajko Veljanoski was born on 2
November 1962 in Skopje. He graduated from the Law Faculty at the Ss. Cyril and
Methodius University. In 1988 he passed the bar examination and started an
independent law office the same year. He worked as a lawyer until 1999.
He started his political engagement in 1993 by joining VMRO-DPMNE. His
political activity has been closely related to his professional vocation - law
and legislation. For a number of years he has headed the VMRO-DPMNE Legal
Affairs Committee, and has been a member of the Party's Political System
Committee. He has also headed the VMRO-DPMNE Forum on Legal and Political
Affairs and Judicial System.
In 1999 he was elected Under-Secretary in the Ministry of Justice in the
Government of the Republic of Macedonia, and soon afterwards he became Deputy
Minister in the same Ministry. In both positions, he was particularly involved
in the process of drafting laws and their adoption in the Assembly and its
working bodies. At the same time, he was engaged in preparations of a series of
international bilateral and multilateral agreements, and participated in
international meetings, conferences and seminars.
During this period, he was member of the President of the Republic's Committee
of Appeals and Member of the Managing Board of the Center for European
Integration.
In a number of election rounds, including presidential, parliamentary and local
elections, he has been involved as a Member of the State Election
Commission.
At the 2006 Parliamentary Elections Trajko Veljanoski was elected Member of the
Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia during which parliamentary mandate, until
April 2008 he was Chairman of the Assembly's Committee on Election and
Appointment Issues. At the elections in June 2008 he was re-elected Member of
the Assembly, and at the Constitutive Session of the new Assembly's mandate he
was elected President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.

H.E. Mr. Cemil Çiçek was born in Yozgat in 1946.
He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Law in 1971.
After 10 years of legal practicing, he became the Mayor of Yozgat; then was elected as a Deputy for Yozgat (18th Legislative Term) and Deputy for Ankara (20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th Legislative Terms of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey).
In addition to his duties in various commissions of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, he was also a Member of the Committee of Reconciliation, the Committee of Constitution, the Turkish Group of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCEPA).
He served as the Minister of State and the Minister of Health -for a short time- in the governments formed by Mr. Turgut Özal (1983-1989). He also served as the Minister of State in the governments formed by Mr. Yıldırım Akbulut (1989-1991) and Mr. Mesut Yılmaz (1996).
He joined the Justice and Development Party and served as the Minister of Justice in the governments formed by Mr. Abdullah Gül (2002-2003) and Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (2003-2007).
In the General Elections held on 22 June 2007 he was once again elected as a Deputy for Ankara and became a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey for the 23rd term.
He served as the Minister of State, Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesman in the 60th Government formed by Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (2007-2011).
In the election held on 4 July 2011, Mr. Cemil Çiçek was elected as the 25th Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
